On Saturday 13th August, Ian, Paul and I will embark on a two week adventure cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats - a trip of 1,000 miles with an estimated total climb of 45,000ft or 1.5x the height of Everest. The challenge will be on many levels - the cycling, the hills, the navigation, the sweaty socks, the chaffing, and two weeks alone with Paul and Ian!!
We are each raising money for a charity close to our hearts and I would be thrilled if you could spare a few quid to help make our juvenile quest for adventure a little more worthwhile.
The charity I will be raising money for is the Ben Trend Foundation. Ben was an old school friend of mine who tragically died in 2010 at the age of 30. Ben had a love of sport and life that was second to none and Lands End to John O’Groats was one of the few challenges that he hadn’t yet managed to complete. The foundation was set up by Ben’s family and friends with the target of providing funding each year to support individuals and/or organisations involved in sport in the Blackpool area where Ben grew up, and also in the London area, where Ben lived.
With your help, I am aiming to raise £2,000 so if you would like to make a donation please either go to the website, www.bentrendgetinvolved.com, then to the sponsor online page and click on paypal. Alternatively pay direct to the foundation account: bentrendgetinvolved, 20-10-03, 23028062 and add “ADs LEJOG ride” as the subject. You could also send me cash or cheques and I will do the rest! If possible, could all UK tax payers either complete the Gift Aid form on the website or supply me with their first and surnames, home address and postcode as the foundation can then receive a further 18% from HMRC.
I will be providing updates along the way, maybe even on twitter or via a blog (if I get the technology working).
Thanks again.
